I could not believe some of the most amazing stories I heard about the Lose or broken Console Shifters Handle in the Lincoln Navigator and then I starting hearing about other Lincoln’s with the same or similar issues like the Aviator.

I was cleaning the boot and shifter area and pulled up on the shifter handle. It has always been loose and free to move up and down and I never thought much about it. Needless to say the dealership recommended that the shifter sometimes gets messed up and the handle and shifter assembly needs to be replaced as a pair. Cost around $600 for the part only. My guess is labor is around $200. If you do not have good mechanical skills, take it to the dealer to have it fixed over your local repair person as the dealer does it all day long and they know how to work with this specific breakage.

I think this should be a recall because the screw had come loose and it does not have any locketight and it should. Imagine how bad it would be to be driving along and then not being able to shift or to put it in park and remove your keys.

I figured I did not have anything to lose so as a DIY’er. You need to be careful. I could not find any pictures, sketches blow-ups, service manual that would help me so I had to figure it out and pass it to others so they can learn be able to fix and save a lot of money.

There are many symptoms that can take you off track as to the real symptom. I was helping a friend troubleshoot his refrigerator. First, I have to describe that it is a double door 23-25 cu inch refer, with ice maker, water and ice dispenser. It was a Sears Kenmore Model Number 363.9534710.

The refrigerator was about 9 years plus old. It would Ice up after a few weeks. It appeared to be cooling well but I suspected that it was not performing regular defrosting

The refrigerator also had a torn seal in the base of the main food area on the door and my friend thought that might be causing the Freezer coils to completely ice up and stop cooling after a few weeks, depending on how many times they opened it.

I knew a good deal about appliance repair but I wanted to do some research prior to jumping in. To my surprise, at Appliance 411, I found an article that was by far the most comprehensive general refrigerator article I had read in a long time. http://www.appliance411.com/faq/howdefrostworks.shtml

My experience suspected the defrost timer being stuck or slow or both. If it stops it can the refer from ever defrosting then it will eventually ice up. The defrost cycle consists of glass and coiled heaters that heat up the coils in the Freezer section to keep it from icing up.

I pulled the Defrost Timer out which is located IN the main food area or the right compartment inside on top. It as a smaller defrost timer, unlike the older bulkier more unreliable ones of the past so I started to rule that out just as a hunch.

Then I turned to the Freezer section and removed the 4 cooling coil cover screws against the back of the freezer compartment, exposing the coils and the 2 defrost heaters that are setting at the top and the bottom of the cooling coils encased in metal protection.

When troubleshooting,  I was taught was to always make visual inspections of parts and in general. Look for something burnt, broken, out of place, unsymmetrical.

I looked at the upper glass covered heating coils and it looked clean and ok, but the lower one was not the same and the glass was discolored, look burnt.  If you know how to use a continuity tester to test for a complete circuit, you can test both tubes by unplugging the plug with the Blue Orange and pink wires. or remove each heater and test each one for very very low resistance, like under 5 ohms. You are looking for an open and any reading under 10 ohms will be ok.

Don’t forget the small button thermostat that controls the defrost coils from coming on and off. Nothing will work if that does not close and complete the connection to defrost. The way to test them is push the button into a glass of ice chips and wait 4-5 minutes. If it works it will turn on and complete the connection of the two wires Orange and Pink and you can pretty much rule out that.

So, in this case I unscrewed the lower heating element to get a better, more physical look at it. The coil was broken inside which make me             100% certain I found the issue.

The two coils and the thermostats come as a set and the part number is WR51X0372 replaced by new part number of WR51X443. They are $65 from sears parts distribution center and close to $100 anywhere else. Go here and get the model number on the lower right side of the right door, not on the door but facing you on the frame. http://www.searspartsdirect.com Search by model number and part number. You can find a local store or order it online.

Tip – If your freezer seal is not closing well, depending on the age and flexibility, I have seen great success if you take a powerful hair dryer and heat the area that is pressed in and pull it out gently as you heat it. Let it cool and then close the door. It usually does the trick.

The Freezer door not closing properly and the ice dispenser round auto shut door not closing completely can produce similar symptoms of icing or frosting up.

I have one that I need a facebook pro to help me. Nobody at Facebook has or will help me so I am pretty much hosed.

I have had a personal page for a few years. I wanted to setup a page for our company, YourHost.com. I was suggested to setup fans (more than 25 will get you a page name). See if you can follow this. At the time my personal page was facebook.com/erickirkhuff, pretty normal.

Then I setup a YourHost.com company fan page and then started looking for our company name so it could be setup as facebook.com/yourhost…right?

I found a real cool guy in Australia that gave up the name in like 5 seconds, and he wrote me and said” it is all yours mate!” What a stand-up guy.

I had like 10 minutes before someone takes the name “yourhost”, so I changed my name from facebook.com/erickirkhuff to facebook.com/yourhost

I saw and read that I had no other choice than to do this (oh and of course start  another account, but could not add the name because I did not yet have 25 fans…that is the rub)

So now I sit like probably lots of others not able to get my business name set up properly on my fan page (BTW – I have 30 fans on the page so I can name it) I was willing to offer to pay a facebook Guru to help me and or I offered Facebook for paid business guidance or inside help. Anyone who can help. Let me know

I have been a PC guy since it’s inception. My family all have Macs as I no longer wanted to be virus tech support. So I am  a 2 months new MacBook Pro user running VMWare and Windows 7. Note, make sure you upgrade to 8gigs or RAM or you will experience a painful slowness that is intolerable.

I have had no issues with Salesforce using the Mac. You cannot run MailMerge on Mac, but you can run Windows and I.E. Which is completely retarded, but it is the lesser of two evils. If it was not the MailMerge and the fact that I have to use I.E. to run it, I would be completely Mac.

Ok so last night I decided if I found forums that tell me Salesforce has not made a fix since people complaining about Windows 2007 compatibility, I would go backwards and install XP Professional.

I tried to resolve the mail merge errors that we saw about not being able to write the file and missing paths. I just finished installing all the necessary items to run MailMerge and it all worked just fine, Fixed.

So if you have Windows 7 , you will not be happy with the quirky things that Windows 7 does. Windows 7 has file and security control issues, which is why it will not work. I tried several things, making new paths that did not exist, file permissions, uninstall, reboot, reinstall..Don’t waste your time with Salesforce and Windows 7 for MalMerge until they address this.

I was not going to wait for Salesforce to fix it, especially since it has been 8 months since I could see the first Windows 7 / Salesforce Merge complaints.

SalesForce really has dropped the ball on this one. :smileymad:

Errors -

After careful calculation, I broke down, selected and purchased a MacBook Pro. It was not an easy decision as I use Outlook and Salesforce for business.

Matt, our CTO at YourHost.com guided me through the differences and help to install tools I would need to crossover. After 4 years, my Dell Laptop had crashed and I had Jeremy Simpson, an amazing computer and network guy fix it so I could retain my files, even though I had them on Carbonite.

The main issue was my mail and how Outlook would communicate with Salesforce sending copies of mail I send up to it and associate it with our customers. I found a work around for updating Salesforce by an Australian company, run by Chris Wolcott, called CCRM.com. Chris was very helpful and they use this tool for many other powerful applications, but for me it was one less reason not to use Windows.

There are a few applications that I must have so I had Matt install VM Ware and I purchased a copy of Windows 7, which is quite nice but not as nice and easy and fast as Mac. Note: Do not try this unless your willing to install 8 gigs of ram or more. 3Gigs for Windows and 5Gigs for Mac. I chose the 5Gigs for the Mac OS as I will be in it more than I will with Windows 7. Windows 7 is a resource pig and will now work well under 3Gigs.

I am Two weeks into my Mac and it only gets better and here is a short list of what I like.

• Battery life and sleep and wake-up ease
• New touch pad
• standard Mail program is fast and easy to search
• Mobile Me sync between other Macs. I got a Mac Mini for my home so and all is mimicked on both computers.
• Ease of Software installation, management, and use
• Wi-Fi is stronger
• Remote computer logon with both files and screen takeover
• Light weight and easier to transport, I got rid of my backpack and trying to move around paperless.
• Moving between programs, open programs, and speed from sleep to open the program
• Windows 7 works ok and I can have it open at the same time I am on the Mac back and forth all day long.

Christian or not, you will get something out of it.

Most do not think too much about health or its affects till you round 45-50 years of age until stuff starts breaking.  Torn knees from football, or Shoulders from another sport, prostate, Cholesterol, etc..

Probably around that time it is not too late but if you have not been taking care of yourself by monitoring what you intake and your activity, your going to play some hard catch-up.

The reality that you need to find “time” in your day/week for you . Unless you are independently wealthy, can afford a full time trainer, you going to try and fit in whatever time you can get for your body somewhere in “Life”.  This will not be easy and you got to be disciplined.

When it comes to exercise, whatever you do, go slow and do not over do it.  You may be trying to undo 40 years plus of fast food with little exercise, soooo TAKE IT SLOW.

There are many people that are going to give you advice, for both exercise and what to eat and take. My best friend Steve Gibbs said something that pretty much sums it up, “If it tastes good, pretty much it is probably got stuff in it that is not good for you”

So, what do you do? Learn from research on the net, taking to others, gathering an opinion on things your body needs and for now try to hit the middle, read allot. Use your caloric intake as a guide when you eat.

Yeah I get it, it is a real inconvenience to find the time to enter it during your busy day so try doing at the END of each day.  None of this is perfect and is not an exacting science.  Record this for about a week and at the end of one week or two you have a good idea of what you will be eating. Be careful with recommendations from others as they are not doctors or your docto and unless they know your medical history, you cannot responsibly recommend things to consume.  Ok, so now that I am too busy to get all this and understand it, what is safe?  Just about any mature multiple one-a-day pill or set of pills can help. As you get older, especially into your 40′s you need Vitamin D for some reason and and Calcium replacement for your aging bones.

Many are selling “HOPE” and it is easy to get hooked up with a Self-serving Health Store or person selling Multi-Level-Type products.  You will probably spend allot of money you do not need or could cause a disservice to your body.  Give your self some months to learn, be strong, and you will learn some beneficial things along the way. Buying a Multi-Vitamin from a Walmart, Costco, or Sams type store is a good way to start. I have understood that Sam’s Club Members Mark has a great set of multi’s.

An example – I have a lady friend I know that was using a daily juice mix that had lots of Protein soy in it which, later we found out that Protein Soy can affect their hormones. She was taking Hormone treatments which could set her in the wrong direction and I suggested she talk with her hormone doctor. I have learned that Not all Soy is bad. One thing I learned is that Soy Lecithin is mainly a filler found in many protein powers that have NO value and take up space in the can to make more money.

Listen to your body and remember, your starting from probably ground Zero, so start slow and listen.  Taking too many things at once your body will react and you may get some serious changes and you will never know what change made what improvement. Make small changes and try and listen to your body for changes. Talk to your local doctor and tell them what your taking so you do not go backwards.

As for exercising, you may start by walking more, outside, or using an elliptical.  Got or feel you need a Gym pass?  Think of what days or times you can devote, yes I said devote, (put the Double Double Cheeseburger down).  Do not get a Gym pass if it takes you more than 20minutes to get there.  Start out by buying a few weights at Walmart and start with, 5, 10, 12LBS.  If you used to lift weights, bump them up a bit but start slow.

You know, buying a Gym pass is not a bad thing to get but don’t buy the “HOPE” and sign up for 3 or 5 years. Get a month to month for the first year and if you are still using it, then sign up for the long term.  Your Gym Sales person will NOT like that as they do not make ANY money off you, so they will sell you products… If you have never been in one, it is a pain getting out of those 5 year contracts that you may not use. Spend the money one minimal weights, Vitamins and supplements.  One important thing to remember, if you are not s self-motivator which most of us are not, a Gym membership will allow you to be around others who have being fitness in mind which can be a motivator. At the Gym or Health Store, you are fair game for the sales trainers to load you up with overpriced health monitors, juices, power bars, and the like.

I love the P90X DVD program and will be using it.

I want to speak of the poor quality of the bolts and general poor construction of the Jungle Jam Chin-Up Bar. I am going to assume that the Integrity that Tony Horton would have had for this product is LONG gone or faded.

I have seen complaints of the bolts and flimsy construction of this since 2008 on Blogs and message boards and it still has not been properly addressed.

I tighten the bolts and they come lose and flatten the tubes to be lose again within the 10 minutes of use and this it repeats itself until you cannot tighten them anymore or the finish caps come off.

The message boards say they buy new bolts from Home Depot to fix the issue but you still end up with weak tubes. Need I say more.

As much as I can help it and I will write a blog telling of this quality to prevent others from getting this and being too lazy to return, which is the mindset of a company like Beach Body.
